The big picture
Bitcoin closed at $68,351, up 5.75% over the 24-hour window from $64,686, posting its high of $68,982 amid $34.9 billion in spot volume. The Fear & Greed Index sits at 46 (Fear), while BTC dominance (BTC market cap as % of total crypto market cap) holds at 56.9%.
Whale activity surged well above the rolling seven-day average. Real whale volume reached 131,675 BTC ($9.0 billion)βa 75% jump versus the daily average of 75,114 BTC. Transaction count among tracked mega whales hit 2,759, up 37% over the comparable rolling average. The top five moves alone totaled 10,560 BTC ($721.8 million): a 2,399 BTC exit from an exchange, two wallet-to-wallet transfers of 2,300 and 2,000 BTC respectively, a 2,000 BTC deposit onto an exchange, and a 1,862 BTC wallet-to-wallet move. Net exchange flow ran 4,170 BTC out of venues, with 18,608 BTC leaving exchanges against 14,438 BTC arrivingβthe directional signal of accumulation at current prices.
On-chain behavior among tracked whales shows signs of regrouping. Over this week versus the prior three weeks, 337 whales shifted to distribution (net 123,275 BTC), while 248 flipped toward accumulation (net 99,042 BTC). The on-chain structure currently sits in what we label early accumulation, with the closest historical analogue being the week of May 11, 2026βa period marked by deep drawdown, widespread fear, and 90 days of sideways action.
In stablecoin flows, USDC whale transfers β₯$1 million totaled $30.53 billion across 3,030 transactions in 24 hours, with $198 million flowing to exchanges against $41 million leaving. Tokenized-treasury holdings saw a net burn of $6.50 million over the week, driven by $8.71 million in redemptions of the tokenized treasury OUSG and offset partly by $2.20 million in net minting of the tokenized treasury USDY. An additional 274.4 BTC moved into the Ethereum DeFi ecosystem via wrapped tokens over the same period, reflecting modest cross-chain capital inflows.
What to watch tomorrow
Monitor whether the 4,170 BTC outflow sustains above the seven-day average and whether whale distribution-side activity continues to outpace accumulation-side reshuffling. Track stablecoin inflows to exchanges as a leading signal of sell-side preparation.
