The big picture

Bitcoin closed the 24-hour window at $76,010, down 0.15% from the prior close of $76,123, with intraday range of $75,151 to $76,413. Volume across all venues totaled $31.8 billion, framing a muted session in absolute terms. On-chain activity, however, painted a different picture: whale transaction count reached 2,818 β€” up 32.4% versus the 7-day average β€” while real whale volume hit 138,732 BTC ($10.5 billion), 81% above normal daily throughput of 76,511 BTC.

Among those tracked whale addresses, 340 flipped into distribution-side positioning this week (net 124,755 BTC moved toward potential sale channels), while 256 shifted into accumulation. Flow composition revealed 19,096 BTC moving onto exchanges against 16,393 BTC departing β€” a net 2,703 BTC differential into exchange venues. Wallet-to-wallet transfers accounted for 91,805 BTC of the day's traffic, and 108.5 BTC entered the Ethereum DeFi ecosystem via wrapped tokens (WBTC, cbBTC, tBTC, FBTC) over the week. The top five moves totaled 16,927 BTC ($1.29 billion), led by a 5,645 BTC inter-exchange shift at 23:49 UTC, followed by two large wallet-to-wallet transfers of 3,085 and 3,083 BTC.

Stablecoin whale activity reinforced the exchange-inflow theme. USDC transfers in 24h reached $28.68 billion across 2,860 transactions, with $242 million flowing toward exchanges versus $85 million flowing out. On the RWA front, tokenized treasury demand showed net minting of $23.15 million over seven days. USDY (Ondo's treasury token) posted net minting of $28.35 million, while OUSG saw net redemptions of $5.20 million. In prediction markets, the crowd repriced Fed rate-hold odds for October 2026 to 54% (down 8.0 percentage points), offsetting a 46% probability for a 25-basis-point hike (up 8.0pp). Macro sentiment held at 51 on the Fear & Greed Index (Neutral), with BTC dominance steady at 58.4%. On-chain structure currently sits in what we label mid-cycle neutral, with the closest historical analogue being the week of 2022-03-28, characterized by moderate drawdown, neutral sentiment, and 90-day price flatness.

What to watch tomorrow

Monitor whether the 19,096 BTC exchange inflow over 24 hours continues or reverses in the coming sessions. Watch for further whale repositioning β€” this week 340 whales turned distribution-side β€” and track whether USDC exchange-inflows accelerate or subside.
