The big picture

Bitcoin closed Friday at $80,404, down 0.97% from Thursday's open of $81,195. The 24-hour range was $79,263–$81,417. Trading volume reached $23.8 billion, and the Fear & Greed Index held neutral at 51. BTC dominance remained steady at 59.6%. Price action was contained; neither the 24-hour low nor high broke substantially new territory.

Whale activity showed 2,089 tracked transactions involving 38,852 BTC ($3.12 billion), running 59% below the 7-day average of 94,919 BTC. Nonetheless, net flow favored exchanges: 5,439 BTC arrived at trading venues versus 4,733 BTC leaving, for a net inflow of 706 BTC. The top five moves totaled 3,244 BTC ($260.8 million). A 927 BTC wallet-to-wallet transfer led the day, followed by two exchange outflows of 765 BTC and 535 BTC respectively. On-chain structure shows a significant behavioral shift: among tracked whales, 503 flipped into distribution mode this week (net βˆ’184,374 BTC) while 407 turned accumulation-side (net +168,319 BTC), measured against the prior three weeks.

Tokenized treasuries saw redemption pressure: the net burn totaled $11.77 million over seven days. BlackRock's BUIDL treasury token led with $23.50 million net redeemed; Ondo's USDY treasury token minted $13.61 million. An additional 720.2 BTC entered the Ethereum DeFi ecosystem via wrapped tokens, extending cross-chain capital flows. USDC whale volume (transfers β‰₯$1M) totaled $36.68 billion in 24 hours, with $88 million flowing to exchanges and $44 million flowing out. On-chain structure currently sits in what we label neutral consolidation, with the closest historical analogue being the week of July 13, 2020β€”a period of moderate drawdown, fear, and a 90-day uptrend in the rearview.

What to watch tomorrow

Monitor whether the net inflow into exchanges persists or reverses; watch for renewed accumulation among mega-whales given this week's behavioral flip. Track redemptions in tokenized treasuries as a signal of institutional yield-seeking appetite.
